(Francis broke the promise between he and his father and starts playing golf again, competing in the U.S. Open.)
Father: Did you think you could keep it from me?
Francis: I didn't try to.
Father: Your name is in the newspaper, sneaking around behind my back.
Francis: No, no, no, Father...
Father: You're going to stop this now. A man knows his place and makes his peace with it.
Francis: I can't talk about this.
Father: Then you listen. This is for your own good. I am trying to protect you.
Francis: Protect me from what?
Father: Francis, those men don't have to earn a place in this world. It's given to them. We're not those kind of people. Now, you go tell them that you can't do this. It's a mistake.
Francis: I won't do that.

Francis: I can't quit now. I'm sorry.
