时隔25年，美国乐坛80多位知名歌手齐聚一堂，共同翻唱了Michael Jackson经典慈善歌曲《We Are the World》。2010年正好是《We Are the World》发行25周年，本打算在格莱美颁奖礼上亮相的周年纪念版因1月12日突如其来的海地大地震而更名，旨在为海地灾民募款解难。
原创之一的Lionel Richie表示：“当我第一次听说要录制《We Are the World》的新版本时，我并没有表现出多大的热情，因为它的原版堪称是经典之作，但海地大地震之后，我意识到这是一个危急关头，而且这也正是这首歌最初创作的意义所在。新版歌曲将版权奉献给了一个不同的地方，但却忠实于原作所蕴含的精神意义。”
1985年的版本的确无法超越，但重要的是在新版中我们仍能听到情同手足、不离不弃的呐喊，听到此起彼伏人间有情的呼声。Lil Wayne在歌曲中加入了说唱，是时下美国流行乐坛盛行的Auto-Tune，但却丝毫不让人觉得突兀；当年合唱原曲的Ray Charles已经去世，新版中由电影《Ray》中Ray Charles的扮演者奥斯卡影帝Jamie Foxx模仿他当年的唱词，“新”与“旧”便这样完美地融合在一起。
