A Silent Love

From the very beginning, the girl’s family objected strongly to her dating this guy, saying that it had got to do with family background and that the girl would have to suffer for the rest of her life if she were to be with him.
Due to family’s pressure, the couple quarrelled very often. Though the girl loved the guy deeply, she always asked him, "How deep is your love for me?"
As the guy was not good with his words, this often caused the girl to be very upset. With that and the family’s pressure, the girl often vented1 her anger on him. As for him, he only endured it in silence.
After a few years, the guy finally graduated and decided to further his studies overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the girl,
"I’m not very good with words. But all I know is that I love you. If you allow me, I will take care of you for the rest of my life. As for your family, I’ll try my best to talk them round2. Will you marry me?"
The girl agreed, and with the guy’s determination, the family finally gave in and agreed to let them get married. So before he left, they were engaged.
The girl went out to the working society, whereas the guy was overseas, continuing his studies. They sent their love through emails and phone calls. Though it was hard, but both never thought of giving up.
One day, while the girl was on her way to work, she was knocked down by a car that lost control. When she woke up, she saw her parents beside her bed. She realized that she was badly injured. Seeing her mum crying, she wanted to comfort her but to find that all that could come out of her mouth was just a sigh. She had lost her voice ...
The doctor said that the impact on her brain had caused her to lose her voice. Listening to her parents’ comfort, but with nothing coming out from her, she broke down.
During the stay in hospital, she did nothing but cry silently every day. Upon reaching home, everything seemed to be the same, but the ringing tone of the phone pierced3 into her heart every time it rang. She did not wish to let the guy know her situation. And not wanting to be a burden to him, she wrote a letter to him saying that she did not wish to wait any longer.
With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent millions and millions of replies, and countless phone calls, ... And all the girl could do, besides crying, was still crying ...
The parents decided to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget everything and be happy.
With the new environment, the girl learnt sign language and started a new life. She told herself every day that she must forget the guy. One day, her friend visited her and told her that he was back. She asked her friend not to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn’t any more news of him.
A year had passed quickly and her friend came with an envelope, containing an invitation card for the guy’s wedding. The girl was completely shattered4. When she opened the letter, she saw her name in it instead.
When she was about to ask her friend what was going on, she saw the guy standing in front of her. He used sign language telling her, "I’ve spent a year’s time to learn sign language just to let you know that I’ve not forgotten our promise. Let me have the chance to be your voice. I Love You." With that, he slipped the ring back into her finger. The girl finally smiled.

从一开始，女孩的家人就强烈反对她与那个男孩交往。他们说交朋友是要考虑到对方的家世的，如果她坚持与他在一起，以后一定会受苦。
由于家庭的压力，这对情侣经常吵架。尽管女孩深深地爱着这个男孩，但她也总是会问他：“你到底有多爱我？”
由于男孩不善言辞，所以常常会引起女孩的不满和焦躁。加之家庭的压力，女孩常常跟他发脾气。而他，也只有默默忍受了。
几年后，男孩终于毕业了，并决定去海外继续深造。出国前，他向女孩求婚：“我不太会说话，但我知道自己很爱你。如果你愿意的话，我会照顾你一辈子。至于你的家人，我会尽我最大努力说服他们的。你愿意嫁给我吗？”
女孩同意了。并且在男孩坚持不懈的努力下，女孩的家人也终于让步，同意了他们的婚事。所以在男孩出国前，他们订了婚。
于是，女孩步入社会开始了工作，而男孩则在国外继续学习。他们通过电子邮件和电话彼此表达着爱意。尽管他们都感到很受煎熬，但谁也没想过要放弃。
可是，有一天，女孩在上班的路上，被一辆失控的汽车撞了。当她醒来时，看到自己的父母都在床边，她意识到自己一定伤得很重。看到妈妈在哭，她想去安慰她，却发现自己嘴里发出的的声音只是一声叹息。她失声了。
医生说她大脑所受的撞击使她失声。听着父母的安慰，但却说不出话来，她崩溃了。
在医院期间她每天只是默默地哭泣。回到家中，尽管一切看起来似乎都和从前一样，但每一次来电话时的铃声却刺痛着她的心。她不希望男孩知道她现在的情况，不想成为他的负担，于是她给他写了一封信，说她不想再等下去了。
随信，她把戒指一并还给了他。收到后，男孩给她写了无数封信，打了无数个电话，而女孩所能做的却只是无声地哭泣，再哭泣。
于是，女孩的父母决定搬家，藉以希望女儿忘掉一切，快乐起来。
在新环境里，女孩学会了手语，开始了新生活。她每天都跟自己说一定要忘掉那个男孩。一天，她的一个朋友来看望她，并告诉她男孩回来了。她让她的朋友不要告诉他发生在自己身上的一切。从此之后，就再也没有了他的消息。
转眼又是一年过去了，她的朋友再次来看望她，这次她带来了一个信封，里面装着那个男孩婚礼的请柬。女孩完全呆住了。可是当她打开信封，却发现上面印着的是自己的名字。
她正要问朋友到底是怎么回事时，男孩出现在了她的面前。他用手语告诉她：“我花了一年的时间来学习手语，就是为了让你明白我没有忘记我们的誓言。给我一个机会让我来做你的声音吧。我爱你。”说着，他把戒指戴回了女孩的手指上。女孩终于笑了。
